Social Enterprises

Article: Sweet Taste of Success
Social enterprises are a good example to know of businesses that do not regard profit maximization as their primary objective. Their main aim is to contribute back to society (by employing handicapped, ex-convicts, single parents, old people, etc) or with the environment as their uppermost concern. Note though the potential rebuttal that they still need to make sure that they at least make enough to cover the cost; so profits are still a consideration even though they may not be the main consideration.
