Banda Aceh bans women from nightspots after 11pm
Note:
- In S'pore, alcohol sales and consumption is banned from 10.30 pm....but in Aceh, women are banned from nightspots, whether for leisure or working.....note the condition under which the ban is lifted: accompaniment by husband or male relative....
- examples of acts that come under the Syariah/Islamic law punishment
- note that Syariah law is also invoked to ban women from riding pillion on the motorbike behind a male driver
- in a nutshell, note the various restrictions imposed on daily life based on an overly strict interpretation of Islam....
